Signed and dated “H. Birdwood, Bombay, 16th July 1888” on the first page, which is affixed to the inside cover board. Evidence of Justice Birdwood’s detailed study is present throughout, with numerous rough notes and annotations in his hand across the text.
Herbert Mills Birdwood (1837–1907) was born in India and came from a family with long-standing ties to the country. He pursued a distinguished legal career, ultimately serving as a Puisne Judge of the High Court of Bombay from 1885 to 1892.
The Acts and Regulations of the Presidency of Bombay legislature, also known as the Bombay Code, are a collection of laws passed by various legislative bodies, including the Governor in Council, the Bombay Legislative Council, and the Bombay Legislature itself. These acts cover various subjects and include unrepealed regulations, local acts, and other instruments.
