Sadequain (1923-1987): He was a renowned Pakistani painter, calligrapher, and muralist celebrated for his bold, expressive style and integration of classical Islamic calligraphy with modernist forms. Born Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi in Amroha, India, he migrated to Pakistan after Partition. His work often reflected themes of human struggle, mysticism, and social commentary. Sadequain gained international acclaim for his murals in public institutions and his calligraphic interpretations of verses by Ghalib, Iqbal, and Faiz. He remains one of the most influential figures in South Asian modern art.
