The work depicts a secret romantic meeting of the couple at riverside during sunset. Profile view of this lady hide the presence of her partner only, his face is partially visible. The couple is painted across splendid natural landscape of riverside using muted colour treatment with golden touch. The background landscape is quite multifarious in perspectives, especially in depth and height, but despite the figure is neither lost nor merged in it.
Here the lady is richly dressed in an off - white peshwaj and dupatta with gold trim, the artist has fun with folds and loops. Her facial profile and her beautifully modeled face are close the ‘nayika’ of Pahari miniature painting.
The artwork is a reflection or celebration of the divine and spiritual realm of romance and togetherness. This intricate love-stricken expressions and romantic nuances in the painting are a reflection on the passion between the couple.
Artist has created this work under the motivation of Swadeshi movement initiated by the great master of Bengal school ‘Abanindrnath Tagore’. Abanindrath Tagore helped proliferate the idea of Indic values in art.
