Lettered below the image with the title, continuing 'As Hostages, after he had so Gloriously Conquered that Proud Sultan at Seringapatam, the Capital of the Mysore Country, in the East Indies, in 1792'

The young sons of Tipu Sultan, one with left hand on his kneeling father's arm, the other standing on the other side, putting his right hand in that of the Marquiss Cornwallis, who stands to left, and to whose custody the pair are being delivered as hostages, military tents and officers in the background; state republished 1794.
