Ranee Chanda (nee Dey, 1912-1997): Ranee Chanda was a multifaceted figure in colonial Bengal -Tagore's daughter-figure, Nandalal Bose's student, Abanindranath Tagore's co-painter, and sister to artist Mukul Dey. A writer, nurse, and freedom fighter, she stood out in a male-dominated art world, blending storytelling with painting and prose. Her vibrant life unfolded at the heart of Shantiniketan, where she left a lasting cultural legacy.
